Brazoria County Resolution

WHEREAS, Eid al-Fitr is one of the most significant holidays in Islam as it celebrates the end of Ramadan and the patience and dedication required to fulfill the commandment of the month’s fast; and

WHEREAS, Eid al-Fitr further serves as a period of gratitude for the opportunities of forgiveness and blessings presented during Ramadan as well as a time of generosity in which individuals donate to those in need; and

WHEREAS, the festival is a joyous occasion, lasting three days and beginning with a communal prayer, named ṣalāt, at dawn during the first day, which concludes with embraces and wishes for a happy and blessed Eid; and

WHEREAS, the celebration continues with community gatherings, offerings of sweets, feasts, and gifts, especially for children, among families, friends, and neighbors; and

WHEREAS, there are 4 mosques and 1 community school that are located in Brazoria County, each of which is attended by thousands of faithful Muslims; and

WHEREAS, Eid al-Fitr is a momentous occasion marked by gratitude, happiness, kinship, and charity. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, Brazoria County hereby recognizes the holy celebration Commemorating

“EID AL-FITR”

from May 1st through May 2, 2022, and extends best wishes for a joyous and blessed observance of the holiday.
