Five bills, Five LAWS! We did it!

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news: Governor Abbott has signed his signature on not one, not two, but FIVE of our groundbreaking bills, turning them into LAW! Our achievements speak volumes as we celebrate the passage of FIVE Muslim-led laws in Texas in TWO DECADES!

Below we delve deeper into the details and explore the profound impact these laws will have on our great state. It’s a thrilling time for progress, and we’re grateful to have you by our side.

No Kids In Cuffs (HB459/SB133): This law prohibits the restraint and use of chemical irritant sprays on students 10 and under by peace officers and school security personnel unless they threaten themselves or others. This will change the lives of hundreds of thousands of children.
Thank you, Representative Lacey Hull and Senator Royce West for protecting children in school!

Judicial Awareness Training Act (SB855): In partnership with An-Nisa Hope Center. The law mandates one hour of domestic violence training for all judges in Texas and equips judges with the knowledge to understand and tackle family violence. With this law, every courtroom becomes a safer space for survivors.
Thank you, Senator Carol Alvarado for changing the lives of domestic violence victims!

Religious Excuse Letter (HB1212): The law now says that school districts can no longer require religious leader verification for a student’s absence due to a religious holiday. A simple note from the student’s parents or guardians will do for an excused absence!
This means – no more Eid letters from masajid or any faith center!
Thank you, Senator Lois Kolkhorst and Representative Jacey Jetton for protecting our religious freedom!

Organ Harvesting (SB1040): The law prohibits health benefit plans from covering the transplant of an organ from countries known to have participated in forced organ removal – which GREATLY affects Uyghurs in Chinese concentration camps.
Thank you, Senator Lois Kolkhorst for supporting the Uyghur human rights!

No Assessments On Religious Holidays (HB1883): The law eliminates standardized exams on religious holidays, which means children in Texas no longer have to choose between their faith and their education.
Thank you, Senator Lois Kolkhorst and Representative Salman Bhojani for protecting our religious freedom!
