We’re bringing faith communities together to see who can raise the most food for the Houston Food Bank and East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry Inc.! Through a friendly competition from November 1-12th, faith centers will compete against one another to collect non-perishable items for both organizations. Congregations located in the Houston area will have their collections benefit the Houston Food Bank. Congregations located in the Fort Bend area will have their collections benefit the East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry Inc.
What do we hope to achieve?
This interfaith competition is a terrific opportunity to work together to benefit our city, develop a stronger sense of community, and motivate participants to reach across to their neighbors. Ultimately, by fostering stronger awareness of hunger in the Greater Houston area, and using our faith as the vehicle, we hope to create a continuous reminder of the role we must all play together.
Before the Program
Participating faith centers will engage and prepare their communities with supply lists, education, and marketing.
During the Competition
We’ll keep track of the food collected and post the latest results weekly here on this website. Clergy and educators at the faith centers will provide faith-based messaging about hunger in their communities.
