The Food Insecurity Public Policy (FIPP) Committee is a dedicated group made up of people of faith that convenes virtually once a month to address the critical issue of food insecurity in our state and localities. Our committee’s primary focus is to engage in thoughtful discussions about food insecurity public policies and provide valuable advice for the development of future bills.
The FIPP Committee recognizes the urgent need to address food insecurity, a complex issue affecting individuals and communities across Texas. By gathering experts and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, our committee aims to collaborate on solutions that promote equitable access to nutritious food, alleviate hunger, and improve food security.
Qualifications for the Food Insecurity Public Policy (FIPP) Committee:
- Understanding or willingness to understand Food Insecurity: Committee members should have an understanding or willingness to understand the complexities and challenges surrounding food insecurity, including its causes, impacts, and potential solutions.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn about Policy Development: Committee members must be familiar with or willing to learn about the policy development process.
- Communication and Collaboration: Effective communication and collaboration skills are helpful for committee members to actively participate in discussions, share their perspectives, and contribute constructively to the committee’s work.
- Ethical Conduct and Confidentiality: Committee members should adhere to high ethical standards.
Time Commitment: 1 to 2 hours/month
