Outreach and Advocacy Internship

The Outreach and Advocacy Intern for Minaret Foundation will provide research and programming support for our organization’s advocacy, community relations, and wider outreach efforts.

Our goal is to prepare and help place interns for a second internship or a part-time position within non-profit organizations, government, or wider community organizations after the conclusion of our internship.

Relevant experience is not required.

We’ll prepare interns through hands-on involvement in relevant projects, one-on-one sessions with experts, and strong experiential learning.

Relevant majors: Communications, Social Work, Business Administration, Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Health Administration, Public Administration, History, Political Science, Education, and International Affairs.

While the hours are flexible and the position is remote, our work is incredibly important and will serve as the building blocks for strategic community and organizational partnerships for years to come. There will be times where your attendance at an event or meeting is needed.

You will be provided training with other interns to help you transition into this role.

A stipend is provided at the completion of the program, all expenses incurred will be paid, and if available, we will work with your educational institution to provide credit towards your degree plan.

General Responsibilities:

  • Identify one passion or organizational project, and drive it to completion before the end of the program.
  • Work with the Outreach and Programs Coordinator to provide assistance as needed.
  • Produce research relevant to community cohesion, interfaith, and advocacy efforts in collaboration with other interns.
  • Attend meetings with community partners and stakeholders and provide auxiliary support as needed.
  • Maintain all outreach and advocacy databases, and identify opportunities for partnership growth.
  • Maintain lists of partners and identify collaborative opportunities within the Muslim community.
  • Monitor current events to provide research and feedback for the Director and Outreach Coordinator as it relates to the organizations partnership initiatives.
  • Provide communications support and help coordinate research and messaging for community and interfaith partners.

Required Qualifications:

  • Respect, appreciation, and/or curiosity for ALL faith traditions, ideologies, and political leanings.
  • Exceptional research skills with demonstrated understanding of data and digital platforms.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time with great efficiency, and can operate with little oversight and minimal direction.
  • Ability to provide the answer to two plus three in the first communication with our organization.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new technology and programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint or Keynote.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Candidates should be working toward a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

Compensation

This position is part-time at 15 hours a week and a stipend is provided at program completion. All organizational expenses will be paid by Minaret Foundation.
