This legislation says that school districts can no longer require religious leader verification for a student’s absence due to a religious holiday. A simple note from the student’s parents or guardians will do for an excused absence!

This means – no more Eid letters from masajid or Imams!

Our gratitude to Representative Jacey Jetton for introducing this bill and for Senator Lois Kolkhorst for sponsoring it in the Senate and their strong belief in religious freedom for all Texans! We were proud to be joined by our friends from Christian, Jewish, Hindu, and Sikh faith organizations throughout Texas.\

And, a special thanks to our coalition members for their time and support!

Let’s continue furthering religious freedom for ALL students in Texas!
