Please join us on Wednesday, September 21st, as we host senior Texas legislators to discuss the current and future climate of public health policy in our state.

Additionally, we will be honoring Dr. Tom Oliverson, State Representative for the 130th House District and Chairman of the Committee on House Insurance, for his work in the 87th Legislative Session, specifically for the passage of his prescription drug savings program and bone marrow donor recruitment program.

This dinner, exclusive to Muslim health professionals, will offer an opportunity to hear insight into shaping public health policy in Texas and provide an opportunity to engage key legislators involved in the future of public health.

Topics for discussion:

  • Lowering the cost of Rx drugs
  • Increasing funding for mental health programs
  • Lowering the amount individuals pay for health care 
  • Reducing the number of women who die from causes related to pregnancy and childbirth
  • Increasing access to health insurance
  • Improving access to hospitals for people in rural areas
  • Property tax reduction as an incentive model for community healthcare clinics
